It is the goal of the Friends of Calera Creek Park, with the cooperation and support of the City of Pacifica and the Pacific Beach Coalition, to be stewards of the land and to create a healthy park for both residents and wildlife. We seek to achieve this goal by the following means:
- Strategically remove invasive non-native plant species and replant with appropriate native California species that support wildlife and add beauty to the park.
- Identify usable spaces within the park and develop them in a natural manner to encourage social gathering, recreation and childhood play/exploration, in order to encourage community and foster an appreciation of nature.
- Identify, enhance and preserve areas to improve natural habitat and support wildlife, especially in areas less conducive to human use.
- Use natural methods to stabilize the creek and prevent erosion and down-cutting of the stream bed.
The Park belongs to the City of Pacifica and is for all our enjoyment. As a City Park, the City takes the lead in all Park decision making. Friends of Calera Creek Park coordinates with the city and gets city approval for all its work.
It is our hope that together we can create and maintain a space for all to enjoy for generations to come.
