Volunteers remove trash and restore creek habitat for Coastal Cleanup Day

On Saturday, September 20th, 35 volunteers came out to Calera Creek Park for Coastal Cleanup Day. The volunteer event, jointly organized by Friends of Calera Creek Park and Pacific Beach Coalition, focused on removing trash from the creek and park area, clearing weeds around native planting areas, and watering and maintaining native plants.

Volunteers included local Pacifica Scouts from Cub Scouts Pack 9 and Scout Troop 29, groups that have contributed over several years to restoration efforts at this site. Another volunteer with habitat restoration experience joined us all the way from Fremont! We’re grateful to all the volunteers who pitched in to make the day a great success!
